Audio Engineering
Recording, a vital medium for me to express and connect the world through sound, is seldom a solitary endeavor. In recently years, I’ve engaged in a broad range of projects, encompassing orchestral and ensemble recordings, location sound for film, rock and pop bands, as well as popular music variety shows. This journey has brought me into collaborations with a wide spectrum of talents, including orchestral instrumentalists, opera singers, film directors, actors, pop artists, and stage crews of various kinds across the music and entertainment industry.

Return 0

Directed by Brian Song, "Return 0" is an independent sci-fi film in which I served as the audio engineer (both on-set and during the ADR phase) and film composer. The story explores the mysterious death of a woman, potentially linked to an AI robot. My score was crafted to create a dynamic soundscape that accentuated the film's suspense and futuristic themes.

AES Gold Award-Winning Recording
At the 153rd Convention of the Audio Engineering Society (AES) in October 2022, I was honored with the Gold Award in the Traditional Acoustic Category for a collaborative project with Hsiang-Hsin Ching. The winning entry, a multi-channel recording of a Mendelssohn piano trio, was captured in the Leith Symington Griswold Hall at Peabody Conservatory.

PSO Orchestral Concert

This 2-hour long concert, part of the Ruth Blaustein Rosenberg Concert Series, was performed by the Peabody Symphony Orchestra (PSO) at Miriam A. Friedberg Concert Hall, the oldest concert venue in Baltimore. As one of the two audio engineers, I contributed to capturing the live performance. The full concert recording is available in the Digital Collections of the Arthur Friedheim Library.

Immersive Duo: A Sense of Place
This project was a fun, experimental recording session featuring a contemporary duet for cello and marimba. The marimba plays notes across the whole five octaves while maintaining a rhythmical pulse, and the cello carries lyrical lines on the top. A Hamasaki square was employed, experimenting with the echoes from the back of the hall.

Jazz Combo: In A Mellow Tone

During an in-studio improvisation session with a jazz combo featuring piano, bass, and drums, three dynamic pieces were recorded. The attached clip below is one of these tracks, also mixed by me.
